Planning : location, health, schedule and more

This PowerPoint contains an overview of our location, as well as safety procedures and other details. This will include our shooting schedule and locations. Since we chose to film during spring break, when our schedules were all open, this part was pretty easy. We also decided to film in a single location to avoid any misunderstanding. Since we are already in the middle of a pandemic, we must follow COVID guidelines. Since we are filming in one location, the viewer will become familiar with the setting. In addition to having anything we need in one place. We got the help of two of our friends to play the roles of the actors for our audience. Two girls are the driving force behind our project.

Storyboarding is the process of envisioning your ideas. A quick outline supported by a moderate picture. This gives you an idea of what you'll be filming before you start. This allows you to put your thoughts on paper and organize them. You'll have a clearer idea of what's going on if the story is more descriptive. You map exactly what you'll film and how it'll look scene by scene. Storyboarding is extremely helpful and necessary for the filming stage to run smoothly.

Planning Blog Shooting Script

We created a PowerPoint for our shooting and sound script to keep our thoughts organized. It demonstrates the camera angles we employ. What kind of camera shots do we want to take? The lighting in its most basic form. As well as camera movement. We also specify which non-diegetic sounds will be used. What natural sounds will be used, as well as the actors' dialogue. Since all-natural lighting would be used, one feature that remained consistent was the lighting. This is a strategy that we'll stick to when putting the movie together.

Genre Research: Action

For our final task in media studies, we will be creating an opening sequence to a movie. For me trying to figure out what genre i wanted to make the movie was definitely the most difficult part. After researching all other genres i decided to create an opening sequence to a romantic genre movie. I chose the romance genre because i believe with my resources and knowledge of romance movies, this will be the easiest for me to produce. When filming or directing a romance movie the 4 main lighting techniques used are “high-key lighting”, “lowkey lighting”, “natural lighting” and “keylight lighting”. These lighting techniques are used to create a bright and happy effect for the audience. Camera angles are used to show the audience the full emotion behind the scenes and surroundings. The most common camera angles found in a romantic movie are usually “long shot”, “two-shot”, “close-ups”, and “Medium Shot”. In all movies without the Mis-En-Scene, there wouldn’t be a movie. In most romance mov

Genre Research: The Age of Adaline

While watching the movie I began to notice many elements that the movie has to classify as a romantic movie. Not only is there the cliche romantic plot of the girl meets the guy but it also had every common technique directors normally use for romance moves. In this movie, the element that I have chosen to base off on in my final task is the high key lighting. With the high key lighting, the movie will have a bright and happy feel to it. During the movie, the elements that I liked were the props used. Most of the props were extremely important to the storyline of the movie. One important use of a prop in the movie is the car. Without the use of the car, the main character would have never stopped aging. I also liked the makeup and clothing element in this movie, because it helped the audience see the old-timey type of person Adaline is. I personally don’t have any elements from this movie that did not appeal to me. However, the lighting in some scenes was darker when it was meant

The outfits helped me get to know the character more. In the movie, the females’ characters outfits were also a joke between the main characters. One important use of a prop in the movie is the wheelchair. The use of the wheelchair shows the difficulties that the male character has. I personally don’t have any elements from this movie that did not

Genre Research: “The Great Gatsby”

Genre Research: “The Great Gatsby” This is a great romance movie. While watching it again, this time only focusing on the effects of the movie was a whole different experience. Only moments into the movie I already saw many elements to classify it as a romantic movie. Not only is there the cliche romantic plot of the girl meets the guy but every detail and element of this movie is strategically planned out in every aspect. In this movie, the music and camera shot is the element I chose to base my final project off of. The diegetic background music added into the movie helps the whole plot align. The camera shots were planned out beautifully to show the emotions and intensity of the scenes. With the lowkey lighting at times, the movie gave it a very moody and heartfelt moment to the audience. While the high key lighting also brings a more romantic feel to it all with the nature surrounding. During the movie, the elements that I liked were the outfits used on the main characters. The o

Title Research: Art of the Title Website

Image
For this blog, I was told to research the website “www.artofthetitle.com”. When first going on to the website I was intrigued by the colors of the website and by the set up of the popular titles on the home page. The website first suggests a title they recommend, this drags the visitor into wanting to explore the website more. While I was exploring, the website is very easy to navigate. With pull-down tabs at the top of the webpage, labeled “Title Sequences” and “Designers + Studios” helped find titles I was interested in watching. When a title is selected to watch, it also shows the credits, creators, the networks you can watch it on and etc. I found this website interesting and intriguing, especially with how easy it was to get around. I watched a few titles, then moved on to the next website.

Title Research: The Great Gatsby

While watching the opening sequence to “The Great Gatsby” in the drama genre. The opening sequence to the movie The Great Gatsby is Nick Carraway`s Narration Start Scene, dragging the audience further in with every word. Getting the audience intrigued with his backstory, on how he got to this point of his life. There were no titles during the opening scene to give more attention to the backstory. The opening sequence focuses on the male character. The camera cuts from a lighthouse to the male character in a doctor’s office while giving flashbacks throughout his narrated backstory. In the beginning of the scene, the set lighting was very dark and gloomy to show the audience the dark times that are now among the male character. However, during flashbacks of memories from carraway, the lighting turns from dark and gloomy to bright, colorful, and happy to show the audience there used to be happy times. This gives the audience a happy and intrigued feeling to want to watch and learn more.

Title research: "Me Before You"

The opening sequence to the movie “Me before you” is the background of the main male character. Getting the audience intrigued with his backstory, on how he lost his legs. The titles during the opening credits were the principal cast and a few other cast members. The whole opening sequence focuses on the male character. The camera follows the male throughout a quick morning routine, walking to work, and an unfortunate accident that changes his life. In the beginning of the scene, there was high key lighting to create a happy mood among the audience since the movie just beginning. However, before the scene ends the lighting turns from that bright happiness to a set with rain and lowkey lighting when the accidents about to happen. This gives the audience a sad, worried feeling, which intrigues them to continue and figure out what happens. The film establishes the genre from the outset with the usage of high key lighting and lowkey lighting. The sounds added into the first segment helped

It opens with a troubling scene of disorientation. A young woman wakes up in the cabin of a flooded, foundering boat, with blood on her face. Realizing something pretty bad has happened, she begins to scream for someone named Richard. It starts with a black screen, which transitions to be the camera submerged underwater. The first thing you see the dark inside of a boat with the female unconscious No titles were displayed during the opening sequence, to give more attention to the intensity of the scene. The female was prioritized in this scene. With the scene set with dark lighting, she was clothed in a bright yellow raincoat to draw attention to her. The film establishes a feeling of the romance genre from the dialogue. With the female just being in a terrible storm, she wakes up and looks for a man named Richard. Dark lighting is not a common lighting technique for romance movies, however, this helped give the audience an intense feeling throughout this scene.

The scene opens with this clip, the beautiful setting with the dim and red/orange-tinted lighting portrays the beauty of the film, and the color red creates an aspect of romance within it. The titles displayed are of the actors/ActressesNames in white and clear for the audience to view easily. In the left corner, The title of the film is first introduced, To the audience in white writing on the dim background. This is used again to grab the attention of the audience. The man rowing through the reflection of the sunset on the water conveys an image of the man reminiscing. The film established the genre with the lighting and background music of the scene. The lighting is a bright red/orange Tone Giving a silhouette to the Outer detailing, This sets a romantic reminiscing feeling for the audience. The soothing piano background music gives a relaxed feeling to the audience in the scene. The medium close-up shot used in the section of the clip makes it feel more personal to the viewer as

Final project production blog

I'll be working on this final project with Anna Cleary, a classmate of mine. I was going to work alone at first, but I decided to get a partner because I was a little unsure about the work. She had some of her plans in place, but she wanted to restart so that we could collaborate. We did, however, come up with an idea fairly quickly. We'll be shooting the first scene of a romantic comedy.  We are planning to begin filming next week and hopefully have all of the filming done by spring break.  We have asked a few of her friends to help us act in the production. Her friend Daylana is going to be the main female character. She wakes up in the morning and does her normal morning routine only to realize what was really going on. We will be using spring break in the time available afterward to edit the film. We are still working on a few parts of the planning before we begin filming. During the process, Anna will be directing and filming, while I help with the filming process,

Introduction to final project blog

Image
For the final project, we have been told to create an introduction to a movie. In the beginning process of this assignment, I was honestly pretty blank on what type of movie genre, I was going to produce. I had a long list of ideas. Different song choices, what genre, how to film it, and even how to purse my friends into being in it. I chose to do this project individually because unfortunately, we are still in the middle of a pandemic. I thought it would be best to stick with minimal contact. I will be planning, filming, editing, and choreographing this introduction by myself. However, I will be having a couple of my friends in the video to help pull the production altogether. After picking from multiple genres of movies. I decided to create the introduction to a romance movie. I chose this genre because not only did I need the movie to be school-appropriate. I also wanted to have fun with my friends while filming it, instead of it just being a school project. When I told my friend

Pitch for final project

Planning out my movie introduction took me quite a while honestly. It was hard to choose from many different styles of the movie genres. It was also pretty difficult trying to figure out how I wanted my Members in the video to dress. The introduction will have a set of downtown Fort Lauderdale. I picked this background setting because I believe downtown it will give more of an outdoors style to the video with the area the audience can look at. All attention will be on the main male and female characters. Since the movie genre, I chose is romance. I decided to have my main characters dressed in light-colored clothing. They will be wearing casual clothing such as jeans and jackets but with more formal attire to it. The movie will begin with the camera following the girl down the street of Los Olas. The daily difficult part with this plan is figuring out a day to record my friends that are volunteering can do it. Since Corona We all have had a lot on our plate such as Work, helping ou

AICE final project planning blog: titles

Image
We have created an outline now for what we need to do for our titles. Titles are extremely important due to the fact that they give credit to people. Titles do not last long. First, we decided we do not want the title to last too long. We do not want it to take too much time away from the film. Titles tell the audience who is in the film and who is directing the film. Titles can have different styles. Creativity is necessary to come up with a good title. For example, the Back To The Future title contains Michael J Fox standing with his time machine behind him. There are also many names of the actors and directors on that title. You need to be creative with your title. Nobody will enjoy a boring title. We also need to be able to edit properly. This is because we need to edit the names of the actors and directors.  We also have to edit in something that will grab the audience's attention. It will definitely have me and Anna's name. If our film contains more actors their names

In this project, I will be doing the project with a classmate of mine Anna Cleary. We will also have a few of our friends help us in the production. Anna and I will be splitting the editing and production of the film equally. During spring break, we will have the filming part of the project done. After that, we will complete the editing portion. This is because spring break is the only time we are both available. We are planning on meeting next week to discuss our storyboard. We don't know where yet. The date of that should be March 8th. The film will be taken in multiple sceneries. Right now we do not know which sceneries we will do but we will know when we create our storyboard. That is when we will write our script as well. Creating the script and storyboard should not take over an hour. Then later that week we will start filming. Probably sometime around March 12th. The filming may take multiple days. This is due to the fact that we are unsure of where we will be filming. T
